COURSE INTRODUCTION
Course Description:
Welcome Students to AP Biology! AP Biology is a course that aims to provide students with the conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical thinking skills necessary to embraces and meet the challenging demands circumference in science. This AP Biology course is equivalent to a two-semester college introductory biology course. This course provides students with opportunities outside of the laboratory investigations to meet the learning objectives within each ‘Big Idea’. Through aligned trips, labs, visitations, and presentations, students will have a first had experience in actively engaging in investigative experimentations. AP Biology focus is for students to explore, examine and engage in and about natural biological phenomena that they observe, study or experience in the laboratory and field exercises. Critical thinking and problem solving will be utilized to understand and develop meaningful knowledge about Biology and its core content. Through inquiry labs, students will gain facts, data and an overall comprehension on the information obtained along with the experiments completed. Various tests, quizzes, reports, assessments and presentations will help to convey what students have grasp, learned and developed, along with added needs to revise. This course is designed to prepare students for the Biology College Board Advanced Placement Exam. The successful completion of this course requires commitment, consistency and Hard Work!
Course Overview
This comprehensive life science course is designed to foster an understanding and appreciation for the diversified interconnecting aspects of living things. This Advanced Placement Biology course is designed to enable students to develop advanced inquiry and reasoning skills, such as designing a plan for collecting data, analyzing data, applying mathematical routines, and connecting concepts in and across domains. Students will develop divergent thinking and analytical skills that will aid them in understanding the biological changes and affects within science today. This course emphasizes the molecular, anatomical and ecological aspects of biology. Students will be able to accurately carry out investigations and experimentations through a series of developed lab experiments. Through team collaboration, consistency, preparation, well-rounded obtainable knowledge and persistent achievements you can accomplish your set goal. The result will be readiness for the study of advanced topics in subsequent college courses—a goal of every AP course.
